Day 1 - Sofia
Arrival in Sofia. Meeting with your local guide at the Airport. Transfer to your hotel for check in and free time to unpack. Dinner in a traditional restaurant with folklore program.

Day 2 - Sofia - Veliko Tarnovo
Breakfast at the hotel. The day will start with sightseeing tour in the downtown area. In 2 hours we will see some of the most famous cultural, historical and architectural landmarks of the city: the Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the St. Sofia Church, which had given the name of the city and the historical and cultural center of the capital.
Departure to Veliko Tarnovo. Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of Second Bulgarian Kingdom, is superbly situated on four hills. The houses are at the foot of the hills, perched one above other, crowning the steep streets with their gables. Here are preserved the remains of the old fortress built around the banks of Yantra river. Several mediaeval churches connected with Bulgarian history can be seen as well. The houses in the village of Arbanassi resemble fortresses on the outside and are artistically fashioned and beautifully decorated inside. A former residence of the communist leader Todor Zhivkov is also situated here. Visit the Wax museum where you will meet the middle age life and folklore of their territory. You will walk along the old Trade Street – “Samovodska charshia”. Check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 3 - Kazanlak - Plovdiv
Breakfast at the hotel and depart to Kazanlak – the capital of the rose valley. Here we will visit the replica of the Thracian Kazanlak Tomb, dating back to the 4th C. BC (listed in the world natural and historical heritage of UNESCO). T the Afternoon we will visit the authentic rose-distillery and introduction to the technology of production of rose oil (a highly esteemed component in the perfume and cosmetics industry), tasting of rose products.
Afternoon departure to Plovdiv – the “City of the seven hills’’. Plovdiv is the oldest city in Europe still existing today. It was called Philippopolis in the IV century B.C. in honor of King Philip II of Macedonia. Today Plovdiv is a cultural center of Bulgaria and selected as European Capital of Culture for 2019. Walking tour of the Old Town of Plovdiv impressive with the houses-museums of the Revival period like the Ethnographical museum; the Ancient Theater, the Fortress walls, the oldest church in the city – “St. St. Constantine and Helena”, etc. We will see the Muslim temple Dzhoumaya Mosque and the Roman Stadium on the main street of Plovdiv. Check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 4 - Asenovgrad - Bachkovski monastery - Zlatograd - Xanti
Breakfast at the hotel and depart to Asenovgrad and Asen’s castle. This castle I located at the north part of Rodopa Mountain and have a great bird-view to all Trakian valley. This castle has been build in IX sentury, and keep the same position saved to our days.
Our next stop is Bachkovo monastery - the second largest monastery in Bulgaria. The monastery estate is almost 8000 sq.m and about 440 meters above sea level. It includes two yards and four churches. The monastery has 18 chapels, 10 in Asenovgrad and 8 around it. Lunch time ( not included)
After lunch we will continue to Zlatograd. This small town in the Rhodope Mountains is located just 2 km away from the Greek border and 60 km southeast of Smolyan. Zlatograd Ethnographic Area Complex lies in the heart of the town. It is an open-air museum which is also part of the everyday life of local people. The complex has an ethnographic museum, workshops and an exhibition of water equipment. Late afternoon we will continue to Xanti via small border point hight in the mountain. Check in at the hotel in Xanti, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 - Kavala - Filipi ( Krinides) - Thessaloniki
After breakfast we will continue via Via Egnatia road to Kavala, a city rich in history, situated in a pleasant natural environment. Built over the ruins of the previous Byzantine fortress and surrounded by well-preserved walls, Kavala is considered to be the ‘’access door’’ of Christianity in Western Europe because Apostle Paul, following one vision, landed there to bring ‘’the good news’’. Visit of the old ton and the new central area. Near Kavala is located our next stop- Filippi ( Krinides), an important archaeological site and a city founded by King Phillip the 2nd of Macedonia. It was here, where Saint Paul founded his first Christian church in Europe. We will visit the ruins, and will have a free time for lunch in the near park area (lunch is not included)
At the afternoon we continue to Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is one of the best places to visit not only for city breaks but also for longer holidays! And that is because Thessaloniki in not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the numerous Byzantine monuments, but it is also a beautiful modern European city full of life! Possibility to visit Galerius Arch (Kamara), Rotunda, Archaelogical Museum, St. Demetrius church, Roman Forum, Our Lady "of the Coppersmiths" church, Bey Hamam Baths (Paradise Baths, church of Holly Wisdom, Museum of Byzantine Civilization, White Tower. Check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - Vergina - Meteora - Kalambaka (UNESCO)
After breakfast continue to Vergina. The archaeological site of Vergina, or Aeges as it used to be called, consists of three equally interesting exhibits: the palaces, the ancient theater area and the Royal Tombs. The Royal Tombs’ precious findings are exhibited in a museum which was built under an artificial hill; they precede and introduce the tombs. Some of the most remarkable excavated treasures of the Macedonian civilization can be found in the museum. Excellent examples are the legendary King Phillip II’s incinerated remains and his golden crown. The exhibits that are most memorable, however, are the two great tombs of King Phillip II and Alexander IV, father and son of Alexander the Great (respectively). Continue to Meteora, for a visit of the fascinating cliff-top monasteries. The cliffs, which average a height of 1,000 feet, were first inhabited in the 9th century by a group of hermit monks who lived on the rock towers. In the 11th and 12th centuries, basic monasteries were built and by the 14th century the great monastery of Meteor was constructed. The difficult access gave the monks an ideal refuge, as well as protection during the Turkish occupation. Today 6 monasteries remain out of the original 20. Views of the entire valley from the magnificent rock towers, and the peace of the surroundings, make this a unique place to visit. At the end of the day you’ll drive to Kalambaka, a lovely city with beautiful gardens and magnificent views of the Meteora rocks. Check in at the hotel in Kalambaka, dinner and overnight.

Day 7 - Delphi (UNESCO) - Athens (UNESCO)
After breakfast travel to Tour the excavated site of Delphi and the archaeological Museum, perched on the slopes of Mount Parnassos, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At Delphi, you’ll have the opportunity to visit this important site that appears in Greek mythology. In ancient times, Delphi was considered to be the center of the universe and was guarded by a python dragon that was killed by Apollo. You’ll see the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, which was built in the 4th century B.C. and was destroyed by Emperor Theodosius I in 390 A.D. It was also here that the priestess Pythia would foretell the future from the famous Oracle of Delphi. Visit the theater that seated 5,000 spectators and hosted plays, poetry readings, and festivals. At the nearby stadium, the Pythian Games were held every 4 years. Athletes from all over the Greek world would come to compete, and these games would become predecessor to the modern Olympics. Then continue to Athens. The exploration of Athens begins with a panoramic drive through the city center. View the Panathenian Stadium, the President’s residence, the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch, built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Continue on to visit the Acropolis, the ancient architectural masterpiece built during the Golden Age of Athens and the new Acropolis Museum, a striking modern building built at the base of the monument where many of the original statues from the Acropolis are now displayed. The rest of the day is at leisure. Be sure to walk to Constitution Square, where you might catch a glimpse of the colorfully-costumed Evzone guards, outfitted in the traditional Greek style. Tonight, perhaps walk through the lively Plaka area, the oldest section of Athens, a neighborhood of charming restaurants, shops and sidewalk cafes. Check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Athens
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfert to the airport.
